Dry Needling

Dry Needling (also known as trigger point dry needling, and intramuscular manual therapy) is a technique used in the treatment of muscle pain and dysfunction. When dry needing is applied to an affected muscle or trigger point, it can decrease muscle tightness, increase blood flow and reduce pain. The term “dry” needle refers to a needle without medication or injection inserted through the skin to help manage acute or chronic muscle dysfunction. Although they are similar, dry needling is not acupuncture. Dry needling is a part of Western Medicine principles and is supported by research.

For those deeper, intramuscular trigger points, dry needling can be quicker and more effective than traditional physical therapy treatments. Dry needling is safe, minimally discomforting and used to stimulate the body’s own pain relief system.
